Hawaii Parkour’s Park Clean Up Jam!
by Take Flight on Sep.16, 2011, under Articles, News, Training, Videos
Hawaii Parkour spreading awareness and cleanliness. Last month TF Partner Hawaii Parkour launched “Parkour Awareness Month and Ala Moana Park Clean Up”. This is great initiative aimed at cleaning up a local park where they hold regular classes. This was their thinking and their plan to carry it out .
The idea is very simple. If you have a favorite spot to train you should take care of it for a couple reasons:
- You want your spot to be maintained so you can continue to train there. You don’t want to worry about spilled soda or gum getting on your shoes and things like broken glass.
- If you train there often people will associate that spot with not only you, but other Traceurs and Parkour in general. In some areas we Traceurs are already labeled as vandals and simply cleaning up some trash can help change that stereotype. The more supporters we gain for Parkour the more places we will be allowed to train.
No matter where you are from or where you train, we are all part of the same global community. Every piece of rubbish you remove is one less negative thing in the world and one more positive spot on the planet. Show the people of your community how much you care about your training spots and do your best to leave no trace.
Check out the clean up and that day’s jam in the video below!

“Now, is a great great time for Parkour!” – Matthew Lee Willis of Texas Parkour
It is the mission of Texas Parkour and the Parkour Federation to make the Austin Parks and Recreation Board of Officials see the truth in this quote. Over 2 months in the works, Take Flight Partner Texas Parkour has been trying to build support for building a Parkour park in Austin, Texas, and just recently they received news that the committee accepted their first round proposal! In only 2 weeks they will be giving a presentation that will determine the future of this project.
We are extremely excited for Texas Parkour and we are looking forward to supporting them throughout the process. For more information on the park and how to help and to show your support, visit Texas Parkour at the following sites:
TF Partners Join Forces!
by Take Flight on Jun.09, 2011, under Articles, News, Revolution Parkour

The Parkour community is unique, in that we are all part of the same extended family. Just yesterday Take Flight partner Apex Movement traveled from Colorado to Oregon to spend the night at Revolution Parkour Academy, another Take Flight partner.
The two plan to share insights and ideas in order to mutually improve both organizations and have a great jam.
Early this year Take Flight partner Texas Parkour joined with ATA Martial Arts to hold workshops for kids and adults on the art of escape. This kind of collaboration is what makes Parkour so amazing and will continue to help Parkour grow and spread the world over. If you have any questions about the workshops visit our partners websites by clicking on their logos.
Take Flight Partners with Iowa Parkour
by Take Flight on Nov.02, 2010, under News
Take Flight is now an official partner of yet another state wide Parkour organization. This one is newer to the PK community and just as passionate and energized, if not more. They are Iowa Parkour and here is a little more about them:
Iowa Parkour is the official state wide Parkour organization of Iowa. A not for profit organization, one of Iowa Parkour’s main endeavors is to catalog the Parkour groups in Iowa on their our website so that anyone interested in Parkour activities in the state can readily find a group that is located near them. In addition to facilitating the communication between Traceurs in Iowa, Iowa Parkour maintains open communication with Parkour groups across the United States and beyond in an effort to help spread an awareness and understanding of Parkour and Freerunning beyond their state lines. Their mission is educating people about the philosophies of Parkour and the techniques used by traceurs, and Iowa Parkour’s ultimate aim is to support the worldwide community in their efforts to strengthen the popularity of Parkour and make it known and accessible to people from all walks of like and all age levels.
We are very pleased to have an official association with Iowa Parkour. We believe this shows the growth of Parkour in the United States and the continued positive influence it is having on youth around the country.
