Not entirely too long ago, I was out on a weekend trip around Texas. In that time I trained with friends I had not seen in a while and also got the opportunity to just sit down and spend time with many of the members of my Parkour family I do not often get to see. One of these experiences included lunch with a good friend of mine. Every time we meet we always wind up talking Parkour for an hour or more nonstop, this lunch was no different.
We were talking about training; how often we go out to train, conditioning vs playing, etc. I brought up the fact that I was really unable to go out more than once a week at that point, I thought I had too much responsibility with my relationship, my job, trying to keep bills paid, my dog, blah blah blah, so many things. So, whenever I told him I wasn’t training as often as I wanted to he, of course, asked, “Why?”. And before I even thought about what I SHOULD say, I just flat out said the truth; “Because I’m just not making time for it.”
Take Flight is excited to announce Stephen “Viking” Laster as our newest sponsored athlete and member of the Take Flight Street Team! Stephen has a few loves in life: heavy music, cooking, and teaching/learning Parkour. He has been training since November 2008, and through Parkour he has lost 80 pounds.
He also credits Parkour with helping him find a way to make it though his probation, and learn self-control in many parts of his life. His biggest passion in Parkour is teaching, says Stephen, “I love being able to spread the knowledge of Parkour to people and am always willing to travel up to an hour to teach a private lesson and I consistently drive from Denton to Austin in order to help lead a state-wide workshop.”
Stephen’s dedication to changing his own life, and now spreading Parkour in order to improve the lives of others, has gained him local and national recognition. We are proud to include him in our list of sponsored athletes.
Stephen Laster was a shoe-in for our fan of the week! He is dedicated Traceur from Denton, Texas, and he has been a Take Flight fan since the beginning sporting Parkour clothing at countless meet-ups and training events. Stephen has been doing Parkour for years and is an active member of Take Flight partner community Texas Parkour, and a team member off budding Parkour performance team PK O.U.T. Below are a few pictures of Stephen in action in his Take Flight clothing.
