Every week that fans make 1,000 or more interactions (Likes, comments, or posts) on the Take Flight Facebook page we give away free clothing. Because we reached 1,042 this week, you have another chance to win. Sometime this week we will be posting on our Facebook page regarding this opportunity. When we do, all you have to do is follow the directions (which will be “comment on this post”) and you’ll be entered. One commenter will be selected at random and we will contact them and let them know they’ve won!

With almost 10,000 fans on the page now we have reached a critical point where we expect to have 1,000 interactions every week. So stay connected to our page and spread the words to your friends. Week 19 of the 1,000 Interaction Challenge has closed with 630 total interactions. Overall this is a lot of interactions but not enough for the 1,000 mark needed for us to give our free Parkour clothing to our fans.

Even though the Take Flight Facebook page has grown steadily over the past 4 months the interaction rate through our page hasn’t. Analysis of this trend had us looking for an explanation. To bring the problem into light, for example in week 8 we had 3,100 fans and experienced 864 interactions. Now in week 19 we have over 6,300 fans but only 630 interactions in the week.

Week 8 was an exceptional week when we had all the fans really working for the 1,000 mark which explains the high interaction total. But it’s still confusing to see a smaller total when we have more than twice the number of fans this week. Unfortunately this isn’t a consequence of fewer posts by us, it’s the cause of a Facebook control which limits how many times our posts show up in feeds! Even though we have 6,300 fans, our posts don’t appear to any more people than when we had 3,100 fans.

Even with more Take Flight fans Facebook controls the impressions and our posts are still seen by relatively the same amount of people. This is discouraging because it doesn’t allow us to share Parkour news, videos, and articles with as many people as we hoped. However we are working on new ways to share and bring this information and inspiration to people through Facebook so stay tuned. And in the meantime we are going to continue our commitment to bringing free Parkour clothing to Traceurs around the world through the 1,000 Interaction Challenge. Sooner or later we’ll make it, so keep interacting and keep spreading the Parkour news through Facebook and beyond!

The Take Flight Facebook page continues to grow. We just crossed the 6,000 fan mark and we’re still growing daily as the word spread about Parkour, our clothing, and the content, discounts, and news we bring to our fans daily!

In accordance with our 500 Fan Rule we are celebrating this new milestone by releasing multiple one time use $10 coupons good for anything in our store including all Parkour clothing, shirts, pants, hoodies, all Parkour gear, posters, DVDs, and more. It was something we committed to a long time ago when we first opened the Take Flight fan page and began using it to spread Parkour through Facebook. We have a couple more milestones in the future that we are committed to as well which are going to bring our fans huge discounts including a 25% OFF coupon when we reach 10,000 fans, and a one time use $10 OFF coupon intermingled every 500 new fans we get. The 1,000 Interaction Challenge remains a contest that is as elusive as it is simple even as the fan page grows. With the goal of 1,000 interactions surely in reach, the last two weeks we recorded 428 and 508 interactions respectively.

Since the 1,000 Interaction Challenge debuted 3 months ago we have been dedicated to tracking the number of comments, posts, and likes made through the Take Flight Facebook fan page in order to promote the spreading off Parkour around Facebook. In this we also give away free clothing when we reach 1,000 interactions during a week.

Every week the number of interactions have fluctuated from as low as 322 (in week 10) to as high 864 (in week 8), but we’ve never quite reached the 1,000 mark. Nevertheless, in these last 12 weeks we’ve amassed 6,201 interactions and averaged just under 517 interactions per week.

It is only time before we reach the 1,000 interaction goal. In the meantime we will continue our staunch dedication to bringing our fans the most relevant, entertaining, and uplifting content in the weeks and month to come. After all, when we look at 6,201 interactions totaled over the past 3 months we really can’t complain. Thanks to your help the ultimate goal of spreading Parkour, inspiration, and movement is being achieve each and every week.

When we first launched the Take Flight Facebook Fan Page in July 2009 we decided that we’d offer coupon codes at our store when we reached fan milestones. The milestones and coupons we committed to are listed below and can also be seen here:

• When the fan page reaches 1,000 fans we will release a 10% off coupon!
• When the fan pages reaches 2,500 fans we will release a 15% off coupon!
• When the fan page reaches 5,000 fans we will release a 20% off coupon!
• When the fan page reaches 10,000 fans we will release a 25% off coupon!

After five months we reached the 1,000 fan mark in December. Now almost exactly two months later we have reached the second milestone of 2,500 fans.

What that means is we’ve made it! We have reached our second Facebook fan milestone of 2,500 fans, and as promised we are releasing a 15% coupon code to our store that ANYONE can use. The code is:

One thing we want to point out: in took us five months to grow from 0 to 1,000 fans, and it has only taken us two month now to grow from 1,000 to 2,500. What this means is our page is growing exponentially. To keep this increase going we are going to commit to three more fan page Facebook tiers.

• When the fan page reaches 25,000 fans we will release a 30% off coupon!
• When the fan pages reaches 50,00 fans we will release a 35% off coupon!
• When the fan page reaches 100,000 fans we will release a 50% off coupon!

If you aren’t familiar with our 1,000 Interaction Challenge it goes like this: every week that we experience 1,000 or more total interactions through our Facebook fan page we give away free Parkour clothing. It’s a great deal and the easiest contest method we could devise to give away free Parkour gear to our followers. Unfortunately we haven’t reached the goal yet and week 5 was no different. The fifth chance to win concluded with 427 total interactions for the week.

A 427 Cobra

The 427 total interactions is a bit difficult for us to conceptualize and it probably is for you too. With more than 2,300 Take Flight fans and growing, there are enough people to easily double the 1,000 interaction goal in a single post. And with the roughly 20 posts we made last week (about 3 a day), the potential to reach 10,000+ interactions was even a very real possibility. However, the interaction numbers talk. If you go back and look at the number of “Likes” and comments on each post it averages about 20. Although this many interactions on a single post is a pretty good total, multiplied out it doesn’t reach the 1,000 mark we were shooting for.

The overarching goal of the 1,000 Interaction Challenge for us is to spread Parkour. That is done both through us giving away free Parkour clothing and by us posting Parkour content on page for followers to see. With this main goal in mind 427 interactions for week 5 isn’t a fail at all as some people might view it. Instead it was 427 occasions of people proactively reaching out and showing their experience, enjoyment, and support of Parkour. Furthermore, inherent in this number is multiple times more people who were introduced and influenced by Parkour but didn’t interact with the content via “Likes” or comments. From that stance, week 5 was a great success even though we didn’t reach the 1,000 goal.

Do not worry, we will reach the 1,000 mark soon enough. And when we do it will be that much more of a milestone to demonstrate the influence and impact of Parkour is having around the world and through Facebook.

Sunday concluded the first month of the 1,000 Interaction Challenge. Although interactions improved from Week 3, the 568 total “Likes” and comments still fell short of the 1,000 mark needed for us to give away free Parkour clothing.

We really want to get everyone to the 1,000 mark so we are going to do our best this week to ramp up the number of posts we make and go out on a limb to advertise the 1,000 Interaction Challenge through the fan page. In the meantime our suggestion is to invite your friends to become fans of Take Flight through the “Suggest to Friends” link, and at the same time spread the word about the challenge. We are so excited for the U.S release of Banlieue 13 Ultimatum that we have taken it upon ourselves to coordinate and host the official Facebook release event for the film! In order to help spread the word about this film we are also giving away free clothing AND free DVD’s in accordance with the event! Here are the details:
