Take Flight

Some of the first ever Parkour classes in the United States were started in 2006 by a Traceur named Ryan Ford. The classes were run under the name Colorado Parkour and in association with Colorado Parkour of which Ryan was also the founder. As Parkour spread and the classes grew, the opportunity came about to start what would be come one of the country’s first Parkour gyms. That gym was established in 2009 and was called Apex Movement.

Given the history of Apex and their leadership and pioneering for Parkour in the United Sates, we are extremely please to follow up our partnership with Colorado Parkour by announcing our partnership with Apex Movement. Here is a little more about the organization:

APEX believes that everyone can benefit from Parkour, and it is their mission to share it with people of all ages, lifestyles, careers, and backgrounds. Through innovative movement training, APEX helps people achieve a broad, all-around fitness levels consistent with their goals and ambitions. APEX believe that there is something for everyone along at least one of these three paths to fitness; Athletics, Play, and EXercise. With these three paths, APEX Movement exists to bring useful fitness through natural movement to people from all walks of life.

The newest Take Flight Athlete is known internationally by one simple name: Pasha.

Latvian born Parkour athlete Pavel Pasha Petkuns (a.k.a. Pasha) is our newest Take Flight Athlete and we couldn’t be more pleased then to have him be a part of our team. Pasha has made a name for himself in the international Parkour community because of his unique style and fearlessness. From huge movements, to dynamic control, to flowing artistic movement in tight spaces, Pasha’s movement has garnered a term which uniquely defines and explains his style. Simply, Pasha Flow.

The All Over Parkour Tee is the last of 6 features we are doing on the six brand new tees in our 2010 Parkour clothing line. Different from anything we’ve ever made (or seen for that matter) this Parkour tee is one of a kind.

The All Over Parkour Tee was created to fill one gaping hole in the world of Parkour clothing: the all over Parkour print. Every shirt ever made for Parkour up until now, even going back as far to the those produced by La Releve, were made with designs only covering part of the shirt. For reasons both obvious and inexplicable we wanted to expand the precedent by producing the first ever Parkour design to cover the entire shirt. The result is the All Over Parkour Tee.

With Parkour written in quite literally every corner of the front of this shirt, the All Over Parkour Tee is in a class all its own. No other shirt says Parkour so fully. The added design component behind this tee was another input directly from Take Flight  founder Adam Dunlap. To raise curiosity and make the shirt that much more noticeable, we replaced the first “r” in “Parkour” with the Take Flight Flight Man. The result is the immediately recognizable world known “Parkour” with an added edge and twist that makes it that much more iconic.

We are extremely proud to have the All Over Parkour Tee in our 2010 line, both for its significance in the world of Parkour clothing and for its authenticity and classic clean urban touch. As such we have released it in more colors than any other tee in the launch – that is 5 to be exact and those colors are Royal Blue, Red, Purple, Yellow and Orange. We are ecstatic about how much you and every one of our fans has been contributing to the growth of Parkour by commenting and sharing our Facebook page. We post the content but you guys interact, and the result have been amazing. Not only does the Take Flight FB page now have more than 11,000 fans now, this last week we posted the single largest one week interaction total of 1,463!

For the fourth week in a row we have crossed the 1,000 interaction mark! This week, the 26^th week of the challenge, we had 1,042 interactions on our Facebook page which means that more than 1,000 times Traceurs around the world have commented, shared, Liked, critiqued, showed support of, and otherwise interacted with us and the Worldwide Parkour community through our page.
